Privacy policy
Last updated 8 October 2026
The short version
- There's no account. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Your scans, saved pieces, collections and settings stay on your phone.
- Our server keeps your credits under a random code the app makes, and what it needs to find clothes.
- We don't sell your data and there are no ads or trackers in the app.
Who we are
Linky is run by Syane Devs ("we"). For anything about your data, email ethsyane@gmail.com.
What we process, and why
Install code. The first time you open Linky it makes a random code for that install. It isn't linked to your phone, your Apple or Google account, or you. We use it to keep your credits and plan, to stop the service being misused (limits on how many requests one install can make), and to count how many different people scanned a TikTok for Discover. For Discover and reports it's stored only as a one-way, salted code.
TikToks and screenshots you scan. For a TikTok link, our server fetches the public post from TikTok (and, when needed, through ScrapeCreators): its cover, caption, creator, the video or photos, and public comments that mention where clothes are from. A screenshot you pick is sent to our server to find the clothes in it. To find each piece, the picture is analysed by AI services and searched on Google Shopping and Google Lens; for Lens, the picture gets a web address that is very hard to guess. We keep the picture for 24 hours so you can search its pieces, frames from a video for up to 7 days so you can pick another one, and the pieces and shop results for 7 days, so the same TikTok is instant for the next person.
Discover. Public TikToks you scan appear in Discover with their cover, creator, caption and the pieces found, and a count of how many people scanned them. Your name is never shown, because we don't have it. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy. Screenshots never appear in Discover. If you report a card, we keep which card, the reason and the one-way code.
Share pages. When you share a scan, we make a public web page with the pieces found and a link to the TikTok.
Shop links. When you tap a shop link, it goes through our server on its way to the shop. We record which shop, what kind of match it was and where in the app you tapped it, not who you are. When Linky works with an affiliate network, the link also passes through that network so a purchase can earn Linky a commission; the network may then set its own cookies in your browser, under its own privacy policy. This never changes which pieces you see first.
Price drops. To tell you when a saved piece gets cheaper, the app sends the shop link and title of saved pieces to our server once a day. Nothing else about your wardrobe leaves your phone.
Credits and purchases. We keep your free trial, plan and credit balance under your install code. Payments go through Apple or Google; we never see your payment details.
Technical logs. For each step (a scan, a search, a share, a tap on a shop link) we log the TikTok link, your country setting, what was found, and what it cost and how long it took. These logs don't contain your install code. Your network address is used briefly, in memory only, to limit requests, and isn't stored.
We use this information to provide Linky to you and, for misuse limits and fraud prevention (like the free trial being used once), because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the service working and fair.
Who helps us run Linky
These companies process data for us, only to provide their part of the service:
| Company | What for | What they get |
|---|---|---|
| Railway | Hosting our server (in the Netherlands) | Everything our server keeps |
| Google (Gemini) | Spotting the pieces in a picture | Frames, screenshots, captions, comments |
| OpenAI | Comparing shop listings with a piece | A crop of the piece, listing photos and titles |
| Anthropic | A backup for both, when the others don't answer | The same as Google or OpenAI would get |
| Serper (Google Shopping and Lens results) | Searching shops | Search words, and the web address of the picture for Lens |
| ScrapeCreators | Reading a TikTok's public comments and video | The TikTok link |
| An affiliate network (such as Skimlinks or Sovrn), once we use one | Crediting purchases from shop links to Linky | The shop link you tapped, and what their cookies record on the shop's site |
| Apple, Google | App stores and payments | What their own privacy policies describe |
Some of these companies are based in the United States, so data can be processed there. Shops' websites are only visited by our server (to read a price or find a listing's page), not with anything about you.
On your phone
Your scan history, saved pieces, collections, stats and settings are stored on your phone only. Settings → "Clear history and settings" removes them, and so does deleting the app. Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include them.
How long we keep it
| Screenshots and the frame scanned | 24 hours |
| Frames from a video | 7 days |
| Pieces found and shop results | 7 days |
| Credits and plan | Until you delete them (Settings → Delete my data from Linky's server) |
| Discover cards | Until 500 newer TikToks have been scanned, or until removed |
| Share pages | As long as Linky runs, unless you ask us to remove one |
| Technical logs | Kept to improve Linky; they can't be linked to you |
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or ask us to limit it. Settings → "Delete my data from Linky's server" deletes your credits and plan and removes your scans from Discover's counts straight away. We keep a one-way code that this install already used its free trial, so deleting can't restart it. For anything else, email ethsyane@gmail.com. Because we don't know who you are, we may ask for your install code (Settings → Your data) to find your data. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Linky isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly process their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update it here and change the date at the top.
